The engineering team behind the motor was awarded RMB 10 million ($1.36 million), according to the company. Over the past five years, Xiaomi has issued seven technology awards with financial rewards exceeding RMB 50 million ($6.82 million) in total. “As Xiaomi’s flagship technology in the automotive sector, the V8s is independently developed and produced by Xiaomi.
