Construction of Tencent’s new headquarters in Shenzhen Qianhai began in mid-2021, backed by an investment of RMB 31.9 billion ($4.47 billion). The project spans 809,000 square meters of land with a total built-up area of 2 million square meters and will accommodate 75,000 office staff. The Tencent headquarters, situated at the center of Penguin Island, features four spiraling towers designed to resemble a high-speed engine, earning it the name Technology Engine.
